Do you mean... some kind of teams? Alliances?
Actually, everybody is independent, fighting on his own (except the bandits, but they all look the same so it should be obvious). In the end they notice that the bandits, when fighting in a great number, are a serious threat, so they start co-operating (you don't see much of this though).
